Today i have a new utility that i want to show you called the GIGABYTE Lan Optimizer many of you at home probably have a single internet connection that's shared amongst many devices. so you probably have a pc in your living room, a pc in your bedroom and maybe some mobile devices like a tablet or a cell phone or maybe you just have one pc that uses many applications that use the internet connection.
Now of course if you're sharing an internet connection with many devices or applications that means sometimes a single application might hog all of your internet bandwidth, leaving limited resources for your other applications.
For example, let's say you're downloading some movies on Bittorent so you're downloading but at the same time you want to a HD YouTube video so of course Bittorrent so going to strangle all your other applications that are actually wanting to connect to the internet as well.

so what GIGABYTE has done is develop this new utility that smartly manages your network bandwidth a pretty unique software solution as well as a hardware solution that actually does this management for you so all of the motherboards that feature the Realtek 8111E LAN Controller GIGABYTE developed a special application to take advantage of some pretty intelligent network management
the first tab is 'Mode' tab, so basically what GIGABYTE's LAN Optimizer does is takes several common usage scenarios, and adjusts your network settings accordingly Options include 'Game Mode', 'Stream Mode', 'Browser Mode' and 'Auto modes'. Using intelligent detection, each of these modes will automatically adjust your network packet priorities in different ways, prioritizing traffic accordingly.

LAN Optimizer : 'Mode' Options

For example, in 'Gaming Mode', it will take small but frequent packets that are often associated with online games and it will prioritize them so basically it'll take those packets and send them quicker to the server thus ensuring an optimal online gaming experience.
'Stream Mode' is the mode you'll want to use when you doing a lot of internet streaming for example Internet TV will prioritize a more constant and steady package flow generally associated with media data streams; offering faster load times without any lag or stutter.
'Browser mode' if you're doing YouTube videos, or just generally browsing the internet so 'Browser Mode' will prioritize short bursts of large packets that typical Internet browsing behavior will generate.
'Auto Mode' Will intelligently manage your network based on your usage scenarios. so let's say your gaming one time, watching a YouTube video another time. It'll automatically adjust your setting according to your usage

LAN Optimizer: 'Programs' Menu

The 'Program' section lists all applications that are using network bandwidth, showing you both Download and Upload speeds. also allows you to configure each application individually, with options to either block or prioritize individual applications as necessary.

LAN Optimizer: 'Advanced' Menu

LAN Optimizer also detects your overall Internet or network bandwidth, further assisting overall management intelligence and bandwidth optimization. You can, however, add the network speed manually if preferred. also options to "Speed up Response Time" and remove "TCP Delay" which can improve your internet speed in certain instances.
